DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could possibly be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high in the future.
