DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
