DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
