DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
