DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
