DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
