DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the future.
