Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of alcohol and drug rehabilitation program due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This can occur for example when someone is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or any other type of drug related offense which has led a legal court to think that the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug treatment program as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the judge it is well advised that the individual try everything they're able to to get the most from this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehab and completes the alcohol and drug treatment center which was ordered for them. Very first time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who experience rehab instead of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to time in jail or similar consequences.
