DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
