DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab programs are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
