DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
