DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
