DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
