Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehab center as a result of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will happen for instance if someone else is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or any other kind of drug related offense that has led the court to believe that the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug treatment center as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered through the court it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehab and completes the drug and alcohol treatment center that is ordered for them. New offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who experience rehab in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
