DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
