DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
