DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
