Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of drug and alcohol treatment facility as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for example if someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or any other kind of drug related offense that has led the court to believe that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered by the court it is strongly advised that the individual try everything they are able to to make the most of this chance. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in treatment and finishes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who do experience rehabilitation instead of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. In the end, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain powerful rehab.
