DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
