DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
