Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment facility because of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for example if someone else is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or for any other type of drug related criminal offense that has led the judge to believe the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab center as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered by the court it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug and alcohol treatment program that is ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that experience rehabilitation instead of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehab.
