DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
