DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
