Dual Diagnosis - Glendale

Dual diagnosis is a situation whereby two independent disorders exist, and most often describes a co-occurring drug or alcohol use and mental health disorder. A dual diagnosis may help someone who may possibly not have been capable of being helped previously, end drug abuse by being correctly diagnosed and treated. Their mental health disorder may have been misdiagnosed, undiagnosed, or treated incorrectly which could have prompted and led to their substance abuse problems. Establishing the reality that someone is actually a dual diagnosis client not merely helps establish an efficient treatment course for them, but can also help clients better understand what triggered their substance abuse and the way to prevent it in the foreseeable future. Addressing dual diagnosis may be a more extensive process than the usual typical drug rehab program, and folks with a dual diagnosis may need to participate in an extensive aftercare program that might include proper medical support along with continued rehabilitation services. Being clinically determined to have co-occurring disorders doesn't imply the individual will need to be medicated for the rest of their lives either, and actually many people who have a dual diagnosis experience much better results when treated holistically and when alternative therapy is employed.
