DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
