DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
