DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
