DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
