DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
