DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
