DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse.
