DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
