DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
