DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
