DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
