DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
