DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
