DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
