DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
