Criminal justice clients are people who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as a result of a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for instance if a person is convicted of a DUI or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related crime which has led the court to believe the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered through the judge it is well advised that the individual try everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation center that is ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that experience rehabilitation in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
