DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
