DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
