DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
