DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
