DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
