DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
