Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug treatment facility on account of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for example when someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other type of drug related offense which has led a legal court to believe the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in a drug rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the judge it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences can be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the alcohol and drug rehab program which has been ordered for them. New offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab in place of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
