DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
