Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment center due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for example if someone is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related offense which has led the court to think the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug treatment program as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered through the judge it's wise that the individual try everything they are able to to make the most of this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab program which was ordered for them. New offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehab.
