Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of alcohol and drug treatment center due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other type of drug related offense which has led the judge to think the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the judge it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they're able to to take full advantage of this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab center which was ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. In the end, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
